gridscale GmbH meets the BSI C5 Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue

Cologne, 27th January 2025: gridscale, the multi-cloud and edge computing specialist from Cologne, now officially meets the C5 (Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue) of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). An independent auditing firm has certified gridscale’s compliance with the C5 criteria as of December 31, 2024. Meeting these security measures is a milestone for customers, partners, and prospects of the gridscale platform and underscores the cloud provider’s commitment to the highest security and transparency in the cloud.

The BSI C5 criteria catalogue is a recognized standard that defines specific security and data protection requirements for cloud service providers. These requirements encompass 121 security measures in areas including data protection and information security organization, physical security, ongoing operations, application management, and portability and interoperability. The criteria catalogue ensures that providers implement comprehensive measures to protect their cloud services against current threats such as phishing or cyber threats and guarantee customers the highest level of security for their sensitive data.

In addition to high security standards, BSI C5 places particular emphasis on transparency. Cloud providers must provide their customers with clear insights into their security processes and measures. Through the certification, gridscale customers can be sure that their data is processed in an environment that meets the highest requirements. The C5 certification is particularly relevant for companies operating in regulated industries such as finance and healthcare or public administration: since July 1, 2024, C5 compliance of cloud services has been mandatory for companies in the healthcare and social services sector in Germany according to the Digital Act (DigiG).
